The information that the Korean Kia Mohave SUV will soon undergo restyling, or even more correctly say it will present a new generation, was not a secret for many. Such an alignment of the situation was known in advance, since the generation being sold was morally outdated, and potential buyers demanded innovations and modern design.

Officially, the new Kia Mohave entered the South Korean market on August 21, 2019. As for the Russian market, the novelty should be expected in early 2020. It is reliably known that the new SUV will be brought to the Russian Federation, moreover, they promised to modernize it for climatic conditions. The appearance of the second generation Kia Mojave bears little resemblance to the original, first generation. The designers redesigned the car in a modern way, adding a new company logo, but at the same time retaining it as a family car with three rows of seats.

Under the hood of the new SUV, the well-known 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel unit will be registered in the first models. It is based on the frame, respectively, the body is not load-bearing. This not only affected the cross-country ability, but also improved the characteristics of the car. If we compare the appearance of the first and second generation Kia Mojave, then there is practically no similarity. Designers have redesigned the novelty both front and rear, thereby making the new SUV stand out from the competition. The front end of the Kia Mohave features a massive radiator grille, large front bumper and modern Full LED optics. Interestingly, the optics received the same vertical inserts as on the radiator grill.

Each Kia Mohave optics received 4 lenses and 6 LED elements, similar to the inserts on the main grille. Depending on the need, they can act as LED daytime running lights or direction indicators (bottom row). To emphasize, the optics and the grille were circled around a chrome edging. The front bumper of the new Kia Mojave 2020 looks no less graceful. The central part was taken under an additional grille, with a chrome "lip", the side part of the bumper was embellished with plastic inserts and vertical LED fog lights.

As already mentioned, the new generation of Kia Mohave has received a new emblem. Now, instead of the company's inscription, the name of the model will flaunt, and an additional drawing is made in the form of wrapped lines, similar to those that were on the first Kia Sorento. The hood of the SUV also played an important role in the design. The designers have specially raised the central part, thereby giving a special character and roughness to the SUV. As for the windshield, it is not large, with a moderate tilt back.

The side part of the new Kia Mohave turned out pretty well, but besides the pluses, there are also minuses. There are no special design lines or modifications, everything is strict and tasteful, a moderate amount of chrome and plastic linings, as well as a minimum of additional details. Front and rear wheel arches received a slightly "blown" shape, but the ends were cut off. Here, in the end part, protective plastic is added, in the same way as around the entire perimeter of the SUV.

From the decorative details of the Kia Mojave 2020, one can note a chrome trim at the bottom of the doors with the model's inscription and the equipment nameplate, chrome pads for the handles and chrome edging around the windows. In the classic form, the designers decided to implement Kia Mohave mirrors, a large body, large LED turn signals and full functionality. In addition to repeaters, the standard set of mirrors includes an electric adjustment drive, automatic folding, memory for two settings and heating. Following the front of the Kia Mojave, the designers have refined the rear of the SUV. In comparison with the first generation, the new product looks much more attractive. The trunk lid has received an almost vertical shape. The very top is decorated with a small sports spoiler and LED stop signal. The center section of the trunk stands out the most. In addition to the pronounced LED feet with square sections, the LED insert with the model inscription in the center was stretched across the entire width.

A little lower, under the chrome line, there is a trunk opening button, a rear-view camera and a glass opening button. This whole set is underlined by a strict bumper. The lower part of the designers was decorated with a pair of horizontal foglights, a black plastic insert, a chrome trim and two twin exhaust tips. Depending on the wishes of the buyer, a trailed one with automatic equipment can be added at the back.

Finally, it remains to consider the roof of the new Kia Mojave. Despite the fact that the model is new, the roof equipment can be very different. The basic version will receive a solid roof, with rails and an antenna in the form of a shark fin, other variants of the SUV will acquire a panoramic sunroof or a large panorama with a sliding front part.

Only positive impressions are added about the appearance of the new Kia Mojave. Massive design, modern features and nothing more. In all likelihood, to the extent of the production of SUVs, the manufacturer will add more innovations, new wheels and functions that were not in the first copies.

Having dealt with the exterior, it is worth considering the interior of the new Kia Mohave, but here there is something to be surprised at and what to see. From the first generation, only the seating scheme remained here. The designers have completely redesigned the front panel of the SUV, making it modern and technologically advanced. The central part is occupied by a large 12.3 ″ display of the multimedia system. It was based on both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto operating systems. The list of functions also includes 4G LTE mobile communications, a Wi-Fi access point and remote control from a smartphone.

There are also those moments in the Kia Mohave showroom where the manufacturer saved a little. Instead of a touchscreen display for climate control, the manufacturer installed a conventional, keypad. A little below the display, a pair of air ducts and a keypad for controlling the navigation system, quick access to the audio system and cameras around the perimeter were placed. Many manufacturers have brought all this functionality to the touchscreen display, but, to the best of convenience, they decided to leave the Kia Mojave.

The front panel on the passenger side is pretty good. The designers have added a honeycomb-like insert and LED backlighting. The image and illumination of this element change to the rhythm of the music, although there are also several additional modes that do not depend on the music.

The final point in the design of the front panel of the Kia Mojave puts a small hidden notch. In fact, this is a recess for storing small things, smartphones and various types of charging (USB, 12V socket and wireless socket). The central tunnel of the SUV turned out to be modern and without unnecessary details. In the center is the automatic transmission lever, on the passenger side, a pair of cupholders, with the driver's button for the electromechanical lever and automatic parking.

A suspension control washer has been added for a snack; sand, snow, mud and complete off-road conditions can be noted among the main modes. The central tunnel ends with a panel of buttons for controlling security and comfort systems, as well as a massive armrest. On the reverse side, the armrest received a climate control panel and a charging panel from USB and a 12V outlet (only rechargers are installed for a 5-seater SUV). Depending on the configuration, the interior of the armrest can be divided into sections or acquire a function for cooling drinks.

One detail that migrated from the first generation to the second is the seating layout. As already mentioned, depending on the configuration, the new Kia Mohave can have 5, 6 or 7 seats. The five-seater SUV received the classic 2 + 3 layout, the 7-seater 2 + 3 + 2 version, but the 6-seater version received 2 + 2 + 2, where the second row received two separate seats instead of a sofa. high backrest, good lateral support. As for the second row of seats, a lot depends on the layout. If a sofa is installed (3 seats), then the list includes an electric folding drive, with a ratio of 60/40, as well as the ability to adjust the backrest tilt or seating depth. If the layout is selected for two separate seats in the second row, then the functionality can be identical to the first row. The third row of seats is designed for seating only two passengers and then, of an average build. If not needed, the seats can be folded together or in a 50/50 ratio.

In addition to the main parts of the Kia Mohave, the manufacturer named the interior design options for the SUV. There are 3 color options available for the buyer's choice:

Genuine leather was used as a material for the upholstery of the interior of the Kia Mojave. In addition, plastic inserts that imitate natural wood have been added around the perimeter of the cabin. The first thing that catches your eye is the instrument panel. The basic equipment of the SUV received an analog-digital tidy. The manufacturer promised, but the SUV for Russia will be modernized and take into account climatic conditions. But these are only promises and how it will actually be, time will tell. At home in South Korea, the new Kia Mohave was offered with a 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine of the VGT family (formerly CRDi). An 8-speed automatic transmission works in tandem and, of course, not without all-wheel drive with an electric clutch.

The last question remains, what will the SUV's suspension be for Russia. In South Korea, the buyer was offered the usual one, where the MacPherson strut is in front, and the multi-link in the back. If we talk about the braking system, then there are a minimum of changes. In fact, it was fitted to the new Mojave, with disc brakes installed at the front and rear. In addition, the manufacturer managed to preserve the status of a family car for the SUV, while not raising the total cost above 3 million rubles. In all likelihood, after the start of sales in Russia, the new Kia Mohave will make good competition for other cars of this class.
