In early summer 2017, the management of the Bavarian BMW brand, without waiting for the Frankfurt Motor Show, presented their new model - the BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo, which combines the luxury of an executive sedan and the stylish appearance of a first-class coupe.
As expected, the new product replaced the BMW 5-series GT model and took a higher place in the hierarchy of the company's model range. Comparing with its predecessor, it is noticeable that the car has noticeably enlarged, received a more stylish exterior and the latest "stuffing", which had a positive impact not only on practical and dynamic capabilities, but also on the general perception of the model.
According to Adrian Van Hooydonk, who is the chief designer of the BMW GROUP, the novelty is aimed at discerning customers who attach great importance to such parameters as individuality, elegance and comfort. At the same time, the manufacturer did not forget to reward the "six" with explosive dynamics and a practical roomy interior, making the car ideal for both family men and lovers of "hot".

The appearance of the BMW 6 GT 2017 is made in the spirit of the latest models of the company, thanks to which the car looks stylish, modern and dynamic.
The front part of the body is decorated with slightly frowned LED optics of the headlights, the impressive size of the "nostrils" of the branded grille and the muscular front bumper, which houses three sections of air intakes.
When looking at the car in profile, a long hood, embossed sidewalls and an elegantly falling roofline, smoothly "flowing" into the fiery stern, are striking.
Special attention should be paid to the ventilation slots located immediately behind the front wheel arches, frameless glass side doors, as well as chic alloy wheels R17-21.
The rear of the car is distinguished by spectacular LED taillights, an active spoiler that automatically rises when driving at speeds over 120 km / h, as well as a muscular bumper with curved exhaust pipes.
According to the representatives of the automaker, the drag coefficient of the BMW 6-series GT is only 0.25 Cx, which has a positive effect on the maximum speed and economy of the fastback.
In comparison with the BMW 5 GT, based on the BMW 5-series bogie, the novelty is built on the basis of a 7-series executive class sedan, which made it possible to increase the wheelbase to 3070 mm, as well as equip the car with an optional proprietary air suspension. The interior design of the BMW 6 GT, which received the in-house index "G-32", is almost identical to that of the BMW 5 Series. The front dashboard is traditionally turned towards the driver, which guarantees more convenient control of the car's climate and infotainment system.
In front of the driver there is a stylish 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel and a fully digital dashboard, distinguished by its laconicism and information content. The impressive central console is represented by a large multi-touch screen of the information and multimedia complex, as well as a family microclimate control unit, which can be either two- or four-zone.
The quality of materials used, assembly and ergonomics will easily withstand the most stringent criticism and fully correspond to a premium car - soft plastics, aluminum, natural leather and wood are abundant.
The seats of the front riders have a perfectly adjusted profile and pronounced lateral support. Moreover, they have a wide range of electrical adjustments, a heating and ventilation system, as well as an optional massage function.
The spacious and comfortable back sofa can easily accommodate three passengers, and also boasts an autonomous heating system and electrical controls. A panoramic 2-section roof complements the points of the cabin, as well as intelligent LED lighting, which has several operating modes.
Special attention should be paid to the luggage compartment, which has not only an ideal shape and loading height, but also impressive dimensions. The volume of the trunk in the standard position of the seats is 610 liters, and with the backs of the rear sofa lowered (folded in a ratio of 40:20:40), the user gets a flat loading area and an impressive 1,800 liters of cargo space.
Technical characteristics of the BMW 6 GT 2017
In the domestic market, the new BMW 6 GT is represented by two gasoline engines and one diesel engine, each of which is paired with an uncontested 8-band automatic transmission. At the same time, the basic gasoline engine is represented by a rear-wheel drive transmission, and the rest are represented by the proprietary xDrive all-wheel drive system.
- The basic version of the BMW 630i is a 2-liter 249-horsepower gasoline engine with direct injection technology, a turbocharged compressor and variable valve timing. Such a power unit provides acceleration from 0 to 100 in 6.3 seconds. and allows you to develop a maximum speed of 250 km. At the same time, the average fuel consumption does not exceed 7 l / 100 km.
- The top-end BMW 640i xDrive is equipped with a 3-liter V6 that generates 340 "mares" and 450 Nm of torque, as well as a pair of turbochargers and a 24-valve timing. All this allows the machine to change the first "weaving" in 5.3 seconds. and develop a maximum 250 km / h (limited by an electronic "noose"). At the same time, fuel consumption when driving around the city will be about 12 liters, and in combined mode, as the BMW 6 GT review has shown, it will be about 8.5 l / 100 km.
- The diesel power unit of the BMW 640d xDrive is represented by a 3-liter 6-cylinder engine capable of squeezing out 249 "horses" and an impressive 620 Nm of torque, available already at 2-2.5 thousand rpm. With its help, the car fires up to 100 km / h in 6 seconds. and consumes only 5.7 liters of fuel on a combined driving cycle. The top speed is also electronically limited to 250 km / h.
The novelty is based on the modular CLAR "trolley", the design of which assumes the use of ultra-strong steel and aluminum, from which the hood, tailgate and side doors are completely made. This made it possible to reduce the total weight of the fastback by 115 kg, which, depending on the version, varies between 1.79-1.95 tons.
The front suspension is represented by an independent double wishbone, and the rear suspension is a five-link with pneumatic elements. Optionally, the car can be equipped with a front air suspension, active stabilizers and an adjustable shock absorber system.
Rack and pinion steering is represented by an adaptive electric power steering that adapts to the driving style, speed and type of road surface. The braking system flaunts ventilated discs in the front and the usual pancakes in the back, as well as a huge number of electronic assistants, most of which are already available as standard.
