Volvo Automobile Group expects its brand cars to be easier and more efficiently distributed around the world thanks to manufacturing factories in China, while Volvo Automobile Group expects its brand vehicles to be easier and more efficiently distributed around the world thanks to manufacturing factories in China.

The beginning of the construction of an industrial complex in China has several reasons. One of them is the belonging of the Volvo company to another equally famous Chinese automobile manufacturer Geely Automobile. Manufacturing in China will help revitalize the company, Volvo said.

Today the company has 2 car assembly plants, the first of which is located in Sweden and the second in Belgium. Also, in addition to the planned construction of production in China, Volvo intends to start making cars in America.

CEO Hakan Samuelson said the first model to leave a production plant in China will be the Volvo S90. At the moment, its main assembly and production is carried out at the main plant, which is located in Sweden. When the plant is finished and operations in China are fully operational, the main production of the S90 will be moved to Daqing, China, and in the not too distant future, the company plans to start production of Volvo 60 series cars in Chengdu, China, and 40 cars will be produced at a plant near Luqiao city. The first line of the Volvo brand will be based on the SPA platform, while for the second family of cars - the CMA platform.

The data produced by Volvo models will allow the cars to be distributed all over the world. This will lead to China becoming one of the world's largest suppliers to the automotive industry. In addition, new brands of Lynk & CO cars will be produced in cooperation with Geely Automobile.

In general, the company sets itself a plan for sales per year, which is about 200,000 cars in 3 years, this is by 2020. However, it is not yet known exactly when the car assembly plant will start operating in China in full force. Until then, Volvo S90s will be produced in both China and Sweden. However, after the full launch of Chinese production, the number of S90 models produced in Sweden will be significantly reduced. Globally, Volvo car sales are expected to increase to 800,000 units per year, up from 503,127 units in 2015.
