The new C-HR crossover was presented by Toyota at the Geneva Motor Show. Let's talk about the characteristics, parameters and configuration.

The crossover has not yet appeared on sale on the official website of Toyota, even in the concept section, but nevertheless, representatives assure that the car will go into mass production in the near future.
The name C-HR stands for Couper High-Rider. Indeed, at first glance, the car is made as a coupe version, but in fact the tailgate handle was hidden at head level, which suggests that a crossover with a full number of doors.
Exterior Toyota C-HR
To say that the new Toyota C-HR 2017 crossover is similar to one of the existing cars from Toyota in no way. The new design of the car speaks of its future success. It is made in a modern style and modern technology. Still, if you look closely from the front, you can recognize the features of the new Toyota RAV4, but on a large scale.
The front optics are huge, starting from a small insert with an emblem and ending in the middle of the front fender. There is no way to confuse optics with any other model. In the middle, instead of the usual radiator grill, an insert with the Toyota emblem was placed. The front bumper is also not small in size and occupies the entire front part, from the insert with the emblem to the very bottom. The hood of Toyota C-HR is made in a peculiar style, the side part lies on top of the optics, and the middle part with smoothly curved shapes emphasizes the severity and stubbornness of the crossover.
Also, for such a large optics, the designers did not forget about the headlight washers, and placed it on the bumper under the optics.
The middle section is stretched forward, thereby giving the C-HR crossover a sportier and more austere look. In the central part of the bumper, the designers have placed a small long grille. It divides the bumper into a lower and an upper part. We examined the upper part, the lower part of the bumper consists of two parts, the bumper itself and the black insert. It was at the bottom that a large open grille was placed for blowing the engine. Fog lights will be installed on the sides without exception.
All around the Toyota C-HR 2017 will be accentuated by a black body kit, regardless of body color. The side of the crossover is somewhat reminiscent of the Nissan Juke; at first glance, we can say that the car is indeed a coupe. But when you look closely, you can find a doorknob in the upper rear corner.
The inflated body shape of the Toyota C-HR originates from the front bumper and continues to the rear optics. From the front pillar to the rear optics, the body shape is emphasized by a curved line, the designers have placed the inscription "Hybrid" at the front at its beginning. The first indicator is that the crossover will not be simple, but crammed with the latest technology. At the bottom of the doors, the designers decided not to change the trend and installed plastic overlays.
An interesting difference from other models can be considered the coloring of the Toyota C-HR crossover, its upper part, pillars and roof are painted black, and the lower part is in the color chosen by the buyer. The very same crossover cover with stiffening ribs to improve frame rigidity. A panoramic roof will be available in maximum trim levels.
The design of the new crossover turned out to be very nice and youthful, the back of the car does not at all look like one of the existing Toyota. A wing is installed above the glass. The trunk lid itself with the glass is tilted rather than flat as intended. At the bottom of the glass, the C-HR designers have placed a wiper. The rear optics are interesting in their own way, part of it is located on the trunk lid, the second part on the crossover body. Both optics are based on LED technology.
The very rear of the Toyota C-HR crossover is made in smooth shapes with curved lines. Raised at the top and narrowed at the bottom, repeats the show jumping of the body. The rear bumper, like the front one, occupies a considerable part. Fog lights with black inserts in a circle are installed on the left and right. In the lower part in the middle there is also a black insert with a corner repeater at the bottom.
At the heart of the Toyota C-HR crossover, engineers decided to put the TNGA platform, it was also used to build a new generation of Prius.
In this situation, the parameters of the Toyota C-HR are:

- width 1795 mm .;
- height 1555 mm .;
- wheelbase 2640 mm.
The manufacturer does not name what the body color will be, but it is known for sure that among the colors will be available:
- Gray;
- black;
- White;
- Red;
- blue.
The company does not provide full information about how this crossover will stand out from other already well-known Toyota models. But it is clear that from the first days of the crossover on sale there will be many buyers for it. According to many assumptions, the new Toyota C-HR will be produced in Turkey, for the countries of Asia and Oceania, production will be established in Japan. Trunk volume is 370 liters, all this pleasure will be installed on 17 ″ or 18 ″ branded alloy wheels.
Salon of the new crossover
The interior of the new Toyota C-HR crossover does not lag behind in design. The front panel is highlighted by a large 8 ″ touchscreen display. It displays a multimedia system, a navigation system, images from cameras around the car.
Next to the display, the designers placed a small watch with an electronic dial, although in fact they could simply be displayed on the central display in one of the corners. Under the display, there are two openings for air supply, and between them an emergency stop button. Even lower is a small panel for controlling climate control, heated seats. With a particularly large set of buttons or other cells, the designers decided not to highlight the front panel of the Toyota C-HR, as they say simply and tastefully. The panel itself is made of high-quality plastic, and its upper part is sheathed with leather. Lighting is installed around the entire perimeter of the cabin, which, depending on the selected instrument illumination color, will be similar around the entire perimeter. Also around the perimeter of the cabin, you can see 16 speakers located on the doors and pillars.
A similar illumination can be seen in the cup holder near the gear lever; here, next to it, there is a charging from the on-board network 12V and charging from USB. Now let's look at the dashboard itself, it is also done simply, stylishly and strictly, in the style of Toyota. Elongated cylinders will protect from the sun, a tachometer is located on the left, a speedometer on the right, and a color display between them. The display will show information about the state of the Toyota C-HR engine, fuel level, distance traveled and other information necessary for the driver.
In principle, this is where the device of the instrument panel ends, there are no special innovations and differences. The designers decided not to change the steering wheel and made it the same as for other crossovers. Covered in leather, in the middle is the classic Toyota emblem, buttons are located on the left and right to control the functions and systems of the C-HR crossover. From all observations, we can say that the steering wheel was taken from the new RAV4, since the location of the buttons and levers is completely the same.
What is the interior trim of the new Toyota C-HR? From the presented model, it can be seen that the door linings will be made of plastic, with soft inserts. The color of the interior of the crossover will be available in dark gray, blue-black and blue-brown shades. The seats will be sporty, covered in leather and with perforated inserts. This is an indication that not only heating but also cooling will be built into the seats. An armrest is located between the front seats of the Toyota C-HR, the same will be located in the back row.
Despite the fact that there is little information about the interior, we can say that it is quite spacious and comfortable for both short and long trips.
Crossover technical data
Depending on the country of delivery of cars, the equipment will change. For Asian countries, these will be crossovers to protect against heat, for the Nordic countries they will be more insulated. But still, the main parts are those that do not change. So under the hood of the new Toyota C-HR 2017 crossover, a hybrid and a gasoline engine will be installed.
The hybrid version of the Toyota C-HR crossover will combine a 1.8 liter gasoline engine. and an electric motor. The gasoline engine is capable of delivering 98 horsepower, and the electric motor is 72 horsepower, all paired with a variator gearbox are capable of delivering 170 horsepower. With a hybrid under the hood, CO2 emissions are 85 g / km and fuel consumption is 3.7 l / 100 km.
The second option will be an economical turbocharged engine with a volume of 1.2 liters, gasoline. The same engine is installed on the new Toyota Auris. Despite the small volume, the torque is 185 Nm and the CO2 emissions are 128 g / km. Fuel consumption for such a unit will be 5.7 l / 100 km.
The engine power will be 116 hp. This engine can be paired with a mechanical six-speed gearbox or CVT transmission. When choosing a variator gearbox, the Toyota C-HR crossover can be either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
The third option will be available only for the Ukrainian and US markets; it will be a 2-liter gasoline engine capable of delivering 150 horsepower, with a torque of 193 Nm. This version of the Toyota C-HR crossover will only be equipped with a CVT variator gearbox.
As a conclusion, we can say that the equipment under the hood is not large, the small engine will be especially interesting. Given the characteristics that the Toyota C-HR gives out, the crossover will be economical.
Crossover safety
The safety of the new Toyota C-HR 2017 is not much different from the latest models of Toyota cars. A passenger airbag is installed on the front of the crossover as standard. A driver's airbag was placed in the steering wheel.
In addition to the two front ones, there are also additional curtain airbags on the sides, designed to protect against side impact. They are located on the pillars and at the top of the doors at the front and rear.
With active security systems, we can note the presence of a circular view camera, as before, the cameras are located in the side rear-view mirrors, in the front near the car emblem and behind in the license plate area.
In this list of the crossover, you can also include the system of exchange rate stability, emergency braking. It would not hurt to mention the navigation and driver fatigue control system, as they want to make this system mandatory in all modern cars from leading manufacturers, as well as the blind spot monitoring system.
The passive systems include the repeater of turns on the side mirrors, as well as the repeater of the stops on the rear window and at the bottom of the bumper. The representatives promised to tell in more detail after the release of the first Toyota C-HR model.
Crossover cost
The manufacturer does not specify what the price of the new Toyota C-HR crossover will be, but taking into account the competitors and the statement of company representatives who will be the main competitor of this crossover, we can say that the price range will be from $ 18,000 to $ 24,000 for the basic configuration. The maximum configuration can cost many times more.
The release date for mass production and deliveries to showrooms are scheduled for the end of 2016. In some countries, deliveries may begin as early as 2017.
