Toyota Venza - what is this "new" car? I deliberately put the word new in brackets, because in fact this is not such a new model range from Toyota. This car was first presented at an auto show back in 2008! Naturally, this concept has already gone through restyling, but it has not changed the basic essence of the design and intention of the Japanese. As you can see, we see a new car in the Russian and Ukrainian markets and an old one in the Asian and American markets. This model "Venza" will probably soon leave the assembly line, because it is time to replace it with a new iron horse in this car niche.

These cars are assembled at an automobile plant in Kentucky (USA), and the famous Avalon is also produced there. In America, this car is produced without towing eyes and without a spare wheel.

In the words of Greg Bernas (Greg Bernas "responsible for the production of the Toyota Venza"), - “Why modern cars in the 21st century need a spare wheel? After all, it only takes away extra space and is practically not used by drivers. If you have punctured a wheel, then you can fill in a special gel, and if the puncture is very strong (which rarely happens, as a rule, a serious accident in which a spare tire will no longer help), call a tow truck. What about the towing eyes? The same unnecessary detail. "

Well, this is his "American" opinion, but for a Russian or Ukrainian person who lives in a country where roads have not been repaired for decades, Greg Bernas will refute the opinion. And in general, why then buy a car of this class (not a crossover and not an SUV) without a spare wheel? I will immediately please the residents of the countries of the former CIS that we will be supplied with these models with a spare wheel, and let the Americans drive without it.

The Japanese consider their automobile development "innovative". But what's so unusual and new? Especially to say after the test drive that there is something "cool" is absolutely impossible. The car has occupied a niche between the SUV, station wagon, sedan and other family cars. There are plenty of similar cars in this niche for a long time: Volvo XC70, Subaru Outback or Honda Crosstour.

The car parameters are as follows: height 1 610 mm, length 4 833 mm and width - 1 905 mm. Approximate weight - 1,800 kg. The volume of the trunk is impressive - 975 liters (for the Camry - 483 liters).

The suspension of the American brainchild did not please, as well as the smoothness of the ride, but in our territory it will be made a little softer. The engine comes in two trim levels: a 2.7-liter V4 and a 3.5-liter V6. The box is only in one version, there is no choice - a 6-speed "automatic". The box was pleased with the work, the switching took place smoothly and on time. I can upset our drivers a little that in our markets there will be no choice of a power unit either, we will only be provided with a four-cylinder with 2.7 liters (that's 185 hp and 247 N • m). Average fuel consumption - 12 liters ninety-fifth. All this is due to the fact that then the price will be too high, it will simply be possible to buy a Highlander for this money.

Although this power will be enough if you are a fan of calm, comfortable and bladeless driving. But it will not be possible to force much, since when the 4.5 thousand revolutions go off scale, the engine starts to make noise, and you will not feel the drive. Although the manufacturers themselves never said that Toyota Venza was a driving car, the task was to make a comfortable, safe, family mini-SUV.

Toyota Venza suspension in our market will be soft and comfortable, as Toyota representatives say. And also the car can boast of its spacious interior (a lot of capacious various glove compartments, several coasters for cups and other niches). In the rear seats, you can easily cross your legs. The front panel finish is not pleasing - ordinary plastic, but with a high-quality assembly. A very small on-board computer screen is built in with a not very high-quality color image, although it satisfies the needs of not very picky customers.

When buying a Toyota Venza, you need to keep in mind that the basic configuration does not come with all-wheel drive, and by paying a little extra, you will get it. Only this is not entirely four-wheel drive, since the essence of its work is probably familiar to Toyota fans, for example from the RAV4. During normal driving, this is a front-wheel drive car, and when slipping, the rear two wheels are connected.

I was also very pleased with the ground clearance, it is already 205 mm. Not all new jeeps have it. The only thing is that very long rear and front bumpers will not allow the car to have a lot of cross-country ability. But in winter, our motorist in an all-wheel drive copy will feel confident.

In general, the car model is interesting, it can be classified in the upper middle class category. In total, in short, what's good: very spacious and comfortable interior with a large number of niches, high ground clearance and wheels, excellent sound insulation, four-wheel drive, good basic equipment. I didn’t like the comfort of the seats, bad side screen, not the highest quality of plastic (finishing), a little high price.

In car dealerships, this car can be seen live at dealers from June 15 this year. It is planned to sell 5,000 copies in Russia in a year.

The starting price of Toyota Venza is from 1,570,000 rubles (50,500 dollars or 408,000 UAH). As I wrote above, there will be only cars with a 2.7 liter V4 engine (185 hp) and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The basic package will include: front-wheel drive, 19-inch wheels, xenon, electric front seats, sunroof with panoramic roof, stability control system, dual-zone "climate control", leather seat upholstery and seven airbags.

For the 2013 Toyota Venza with all-wheel drive and a rear-view camera, you will have to pay 1,671,000 rubles. ($ 54,000), and a "complete set" with navigation, a system of automatic switching from high beam to low beam and an electric rear door will hit your pocket at 1,776,000 rubles. ($ 57,200).
