Alarm is one of the essential attributes of a modern car, as it provides protection against burglary and theft. The alarm system is often controlled by means of a special key fob, which usually contains a small display and several buttons responsible for arming and disarming the car.

In addition, the remote control for advanced alarm systems can be equipped with a button for opening the trunk, activating / deactivating the engine and other functions.

But, like any other equipment, the alarm panel can fail, so let's try to figure out what needs to be done in such cases.

The main types of malfunctions

All malfunctions of the alarm panel can be conditionally divided into system and mechanical. The system includes the following:

  • Suspension of the security system;
  • Loss of signal;
  • Desynchronization of the control panel and the alarm unit;
  • Battery failure, etc.

Mechanical faults include:

  • Broken screen;
  • Falling buttons;
  • Damage to the body of the alarm panel;
  • Internal board damage and others.

It should also be noted that most malfunctions occur due to mechanical (shock, fall) or thermal effects (strong heating, hypothermia).

In some cases, malfunctions can be caused by manufacturing defects, which can appear both immediately after the purchase of the security system, and some time after its use on the car.

Ways to troubleshoot the alarm panel

Despite the sufficient complexity of the car alarm systems, the car owner is able to fix some types of malfunctions on his own. Such malfunctions include:

  1. Freeze - to eliminate this problem, it is recommended to restart the device if this function is provided by the manufacturer. Most often, the reset is carried out by simultaneously pressing and holding several buttons or using a special button strongly recessed into the keychain body. In addition, the system can be rebooted by simply removing the power supply.
  2. Out of sync - to cope with this problem, you just need to re-configure the alarm key fob. In other words, re-add it to the security system memory. Information on how to do this can be found in the instructions for the security system that came with it.
  3. Keychain not responding to pressing due to the presence of strong interference in the form of large industrial facilities or specialized "jammers". The solution to the problem in this case will be to eliminate the source of interference, and if this is not possible, the installation of a special protective screen is required. Alternatively, you can try to amplify the signal by simply replacing the battery.
  4. Replacing broken parts, such as buttons and key fob body. For some models of security systems, manufacturers offer spare parts (buttons, housings, etc.), which can be found in specialized stores.

Replacing such elements often does not require any special skills and knowledge, so even a “kettle” can handle this.
It also often happens that the key fob stops working due to the banal discharge of the battery - in this case, the problem is solved by replacing the battery.

However, there are times when you cannot cope with the problem on your own. In such situations, it is recommended to do without heroism and immediately go to specialized workshops, the list of services which includes:

  • Replacement of broken screens;
  • Replacing the loop;
  • Soldering of microcircuits;
  • Re-flashing the keychain, etc.

It is also worth noting that sometimes the cost of repairing a keychain can be comparable to the cost of buying a new device - we hope there is no need to explain which one to choose from.

Conclusion

As you can see, the car owner can cope with most of the malfunctions of the car alarm panel on his own. Otherwise, it is worth contacting specialized workshops and service centers.
