The presentation of the budget crossover took place in India in the summer of 2013. Then the Japanese kept the secret to the last, what kind of new Terrano they had prepared for the public. The model is built on the same Nissan B0 platform as the French Renault Duster, as well as the new generation of Renault Logan. However, in Japan they decided that the crossover from Europe was not good enough for the brand and made a lot of changes that fundamentally changed the car.

As mentioned above, the crossover has undergone dramatic changes relative to the original version. First of all, a large radiator grille is striking, which is made in the corporate style in the shape of the letter V. In general, the abundant presence of chrome parts visually raises the class of the car.
The same goes for headlights. Of course, in the new Duster they look more modern, but here, in combination with the general style, they, as they say, as they lived here. On the other hand, lenticular optics have always lent solidity to a car. In addition, a small embossing on the bonnet makes the new Terrano look wider and taller. However, there is no such inflated body as that of the eminent French counterpart.
In place of the bump stop there is a wide grille with a fine mesh, which stretches almost to the very fog lights.
In profile, the new 2015 Nissan Terrano also looks a little different. Thanks to the redesigned front bumper, the crossover's appearance has become more impetuous. Also noticeable are discs of a different, proprietary "Nissan" design, which have become a kind of symbol. The fact is that before Terrano did not exist as a separate model. It was Pathfinder, who had that name in some countries. But the latest generation Pathfinder had just such discs.
In some trim levels, the buyer will receive chrome roof rails, as well as rear-view mirrors and door handles. Door sills are also available.
The rear end of the Nissan Terrano 2015 is what distinguishes the car most of all. There are big lights, a modernized bumper. On the one hand, it looks scanty. On the other hand, take, for example, a co-platform. It has a lot of unnecessary parts stuck on the back, like on a Chinese tape recorder from the 90s. Then it was popular to make all sorts of flashlights, light bulbs, stickers. But Nissan doesn't have that. It is thanks to his severity that he looks so solid. Additional brake lights, which also play the role of fog lights, visually lower the ground clearance, which, like the French, is 205 mm.

Inside, too, dramatic changes. The Japanese claim that they sought to transfer the crossover to another class, for which they had to work hard on noise insulation, finishing materials, seats, and indeed, on the design.
To begin with, the model can be both right-hand drive and left-hand drive. Despite the side, the interior is identical.
For starters, you should pay attention to the Nissan Terrano seats. In the base, of course, there is no heated front seats, only in the configuration above. But the Japanese claim, and this is noticeable to the naked eye, that they have very much altered the seats in order to increase comfort, in comparison with the co-platform ones, and there are a lot of them.
The instrument cluster here is simply borrowed from Renault. It is made in the spirit of the French company, especially the on-board computer display, in which the fuel level and engine temperature scales are shown in stripes.
The panel as a whole has undergone some changes, but they concern, first of all, materials of decoration, and not design. The center console can house either a CD changer, a stove control unit, or a touchscreen display of a radio. It's strange if a Renault radio tape recorder was installed in Nissan, but you won't see this here. The radio tape recorder, of course, of the Japanese company with the Nissan Connect interface, which can be with or without OEM navigation.
The rear sofa also did not have a third headrest as standard. However, the finishing materials here are much higher than in the same Renault. The trunk also holds 408 or 1636 liters of luggage.

The problem for the Japanese is that they are one step behind the French; it is the latter who set the pace. It's like the machines that are installed on Kalina 2, which are purchased from the same Japanese under license. But the Japanese themselves put them on their cars back in the 90s. And instead of putting their own power units, they did not invent a bicycle - they just installed Renault engines.
So, the engines are from the last generation of Duster. Renault from this year exposes them to greater force, which allows them to remove 10-15 more horses from them. This difference seems small, but it is quite large. Moreover, they also excluded from the lineup a 1.5-liter diesel engine for the Russian market. For example, in the same India it is available. Well, okay, let's look at what is.
- So, the first engine has a volume of 1.6 liters. As in the last generation of the Duster, it comes only mechanically, with all-wheel drive or only front-wheel drive. It develops 102 horsepower. By the way, now Renault was able to squeeze 114 forces out of it. So, such an engine consumes about 9.8 liters in the city on the new Terrano, against 9.1 for the Duster. Of course, our review is about Terrano, but it would be somehow wrong to talk only about him. At the same time, acceleration to a hundred takes 11.8 seconds, and the maximum speed with front-wheel drive is 163 km / h, and with a full one - 158! And how can they be called soplatforms after that?
- The second motor is also from the past. This is a 2-liter 135-horsepower unit, which now develops 143 horses among the French. It can be supplied with either a 6-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. Its consumption in the city on the mechanics is 10.3 liters, and on the machine - 11 liters. It is noteworthy that four-wheel drive can only be obtained by mechanics. The maximum speed of the car is 168 km / h on the machine. On mechanics 177 km / h.

Like the soplatform, 4 configurations are available here, only the prices here are slightly (if I may say so) higher. So let's take a look at each.
Comfort
This is the basic configuration in which both engines are available: 1.6 with any gearbox, or 2 liters with an automatic. The buyer will pay at least 829 thousand rubles for it. But this is a SUV, so you need to take four-wheel drive, but it will come out already for 888 thousand. The list of standard equipment will include air conditioning, steering wheel height adjustment, two airbags (Duster has one in the base), an audio system with CD, AUX and USB (Duster has it in options), roof rails, central locking and an immobilizer. Thus, the price of the basic configuration Nissan Terrano 2015 will be 12,000 €.
Elegance
This configuration starts at 930,000 rubles. There is already only four-wheel drive, respectively, 2 liters only on the mechanics. There will already be fog lights, an on-board computer, side airbags, front power windows, a third headrest in the back. There are no options, not even alloy wheels.
Elegance Plus
The third configuration boasts a 2-liter unit on the machine.Perhaps, except for a leather steering wheel, electric windows in a circle, parking sensors and alloy wheels, there is nothing. And all this stuff is already worth a million.
Tekna
And finally, the top-end equipment Nissan Terrano 2015. Here the buyer will receive tinted glass, leather interior, rear-view cameras, as well as navigation. The price of the maximum configuration will be 1 million 45 thousand rubles (14 160 €).

Now let's talk about why it is worth buying this car, and why not. Honestly, there are practically no advantages here ...
- Engines. As mentioned above, despite the almost simultaneous presentation, engines from the old Duster are installed on the new Terrano. In addition, the list of complete sets does not include a diesel engine, and this is the lion's share of sales. Apparently, the French did not want to give away a tidbit.
- Lack of all-wheel drive on the machine. You can't argue that Duster wins significantly. Of course, Terrano can boast of its 6-speed mechanics, but the consumption, acceleration and top speed indicate that it is simply useless.
- Worst dynamics. As mentioned above, the maximum speed does not reach the Duster. Yes, of course, in the top-end version, overclocking to a hundred in Terrano takes a second less, but who cares if this figure has already exceeded 10?
- 888 thousand for a base with all-wheel drive. This is too much. For the same money, the Duster will turn out in the Privilege configuration with cruise, parking sensors, HSA + ESP, leather steering wheel and heated front seats. Moreover, it will be equipped with a 2-liter engine with four-wheel drive mechanics.
Of course, there is good and bad in everything. Somewhere good, somewhere bad.
